Ongoing Events
Dear Senior:
I want to wish you a very happy and healthy New Year! As a senior myself, I am very happy to announce the Town of Brookhaven will be offering a Senior Nutrition Program in 2019 at the newly created Moriches Bay Recreation Center. This program will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The nutrition program at this site will provide a healthy lunch in a friendly, social atmosphere. Residents who participate in this program will have the opportunity to participate in a wide-range of activities. Transportation to the program will be provided upon availability to residents living in Moriches, Center Moriches, East Moriches, Manorville and residents living in the Brookhaven Town portion of Eastport.
A voluntary $2.00 contribution is suggested for lunch. Funding for this program is provided by the United States Department of Health and Human Services, New York State and the Suffolk County Office for the Aging.
Additionally, local senior clubs will begin operating out of the center in February 2019. This is the first recreation facility to open in Brookhaven Town in the last twenty-years and the only recreation facility to open in southeastern Brookhaven.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to be actively engaged with neighbors in your community, while enjoying good food with friendly people. For additional information, please contact the Senior Citizen Division online or call them at at 631-451-9191.
Sincerely,
Ed Romaine
